Did you know that blogging can also be really useful for you? Whether you’re a professional, student or representing an association, writing for a blog is a great way to share your knowledge about the field you’re working in. This has several advantages, that I would like to share with you.

• a blog stimulates you to keep evaluating your work;
• by writing up your thoughts and views you develop a vision;
• nobody is as up to date as you are, since you’re the one who keeps track of the latest developments for your blog;
• over time, you’ve created a valuable archive of all your knowledge and views.

So, imagine you’ve already started your blog and have been writing about your work, hobby or study. If you’re passionate about what you do, people will notice and start following your blog. Your readers apparently are interested in the same topic as you are. Aren’t that the people you want to get in touch with? They’ll share their knowledge and views with you, by commenting on the articles you’ve written. You can discuss the future of your field, tell each other about local phenomena and maybe even start working together.

Of course there’s a lot more to blogging than I can describe in these twenty sentences. And I’d love to tell you all about it. Therefore, I regularly give workshops at Universities, schools, and companies to evangelize the advantages of blogging and at the same time help people to get started with this new style of writing.
